Greenhouse conversion for pot trials
As the demand for pot trials has increased, Inagro recently invested in in the conversion of one of the compartments of the on-site glass greenhouse. The compartment was fitted with four new ebb and flow tables. Each table can be operated independently, giving us the capacity to test multiple nutrient solutions at once. In addition to the tables, a section of the compartment was converted into a lava container field. Custom drippers or overhead sprinkling are operated by the computer system. These new additions to our experimental arsenal will help us further accommodate client needs.
Automated ebb and flow, dripper and sprinkler system
Irrigation of pot trials is a time-consuming process when done manually. To increase the time efficiency - and consequently cost efficiency - we invested in automated irrigation systems. Firstly, there is the pump operation of the four independent ebb and flow reservoirs. Secondly, the sprinkler system over the lava bedding can be configured. The greenhouse is also fitted with an automated fertigation system as a third system that can feed a customised dripper system adapted to the trial’s needs. Of course, in case of special requirements irrigation and fertigation can still be performed manually.
Growth chamber vs. medium-sized pot trials in the greenhouse
With this reconversion we can accommodate medium-sized pot trials. Adding factors, for example, can quickly lead to trials that are too large to conduct in a growth chamber without compromising on the size of the experimental unit. Our experts will always give advice on the best setting for your trial, be it phytotox screening, seed treatment, fertiliser, biostimulants, crop protection or other.
Lava bedding for a better root environment
The lava bedding contains more air than a regular container field. Also, the excess water drains better, creating a better ventilated root environment. The draining system from the field can be sampled, which can be interesting for some trial set-ups.
