Corteva Agriscience collaborated with Inagro to organise its demonstration platform
The field was chosen carefully according to type of soil, homogeneity and crop history. The choice fell on a field with sandy soil and a wide variety of crops. In the past 4 years, maize, flax, potatoes and sprouts were cultivated. Homogeneity was analysed using satellite images of the growth in 2020.
In total 12 trials were successfully executed on this platform in arable crops (such as maize, cereals and potato), in vegetables (leek, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower) but also trials in sown weeds, pasture and weeds on fallow land. In this wide range of crops different types of trials were organised, efficacy trials against weeds, fungi and insects, and a large variety trial that also included different sowing techniques. Most trials were implemented as randomised block trials with multiple repetitions. Between the trials grass borders were maintained to ensure good access.
The trials were monitored and assessed by Inagro’s operational staff in order to harvest data. Photographic material was collected by Corteva Agriscience for their informational sessions planned in winter. At several moments during the 2021 season this location was visited by customers, press, colleagues and other stakeholders from the firm. Next to the promotional purposes, this platform was also used to train the staff of Corteva Agriscience.
What seemed like a very challenging project at the outset resulted in a huge success. Thanks to frequent and intensive communication between the staff of Inagro and Corteva Agriscience this collaboration has led to the development of an interesting platform, with educational visits and experiences for both Inagro and Corteva Agriscience.
