Future Farming Hub: working together for an 'optimal' future

This systemic approach should enable new collaborations with farmers, but also with other stakeholders.

Who is the Future Farming Hub for?

The Future Farming Hub should open eyes, for farmers and researchers. This systemic approach should enable new collaborations with farmers, but also with other stakeholders. Companies, knowledge institutions, governments, individual farmers, ... everyone with good ideas are welcome to work with us on an 'optimal' future.

What is the Future Farming Hub?

The agricultural sector faces major challenges. In order to fulfil legislation - which requires more precise application of fertilisers and crop protection -, cope with climate changes and still produce profitably, a change in global crop management or a systemic approach is imminent. To inspire farmers to consider and commence working with a systemic approach, we aim to increase our research on system farming in the following years. For this purpose, we are establishing the Future Farming Hub. We are concentrating on four systems in which we see a future for Flemish agriculture and horticulture; the OptiFarm system, the organic cultivation system, the nature-inclusive cultivation system, and a forest agriculture system.
